We all know how annoying servers can be,
Setting them up is expensive. And then you have to run them, increasing your operational overhead. And utilizing them perfectly is a nightmare. If your servers are overutilized then your services will crash (using CDNs for load balancing would be helpful though). If they are underutilized, then we will end up losing a lot of money. Neither situation is good.
But what if I told you that there was a way to go serverless? A way you no longer need to worry about all those pesky details. A way for your business to be lean and flexible. And utilize all the benefits of the Client-Service Pattern discussed here.
Excited to learn more? Let’s get into it.
Highlights
What is serverless- Serverless is a cloud application development and execution model that lets developers build and run code without managing servers, and without paying for idle cloud infrastructure.
How it works- You basically pay a server provider as per your needs. Instead of paying a lot of money for a fixed amount of server space, you are instead paying for the exact amounts you need.
Servers as a service- We have talked about the ‘as a service’ method a lot. This is another example. Large Server Providers can provide space for cheap. Small orgs don’t need to worry about cost overflows. Everyone wins. Yaayy Capitalism.
This is a nuanced field that requires more details. I will be doing more detailed pieces on it soon. Keep your eyes glued to it. To anybody interested in Serverless or Cloud Computing in general, I have a special talk linked below for you.
I had a conversation, with Muhammad Sajid(his LinkedIn is here), a Solutions Architect at AWS Nordics. AWS Nordics is the branch of Amazon Web Services that operates in Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, and other Scandinavian countries in the Nordic Region. We talked about topics like what it takes to get a job at Google, Amazon, Meta, Netflix, Apple, Microsoft, and other top-tier tech companies. And how one can get into fields like Cloud Computing/emerging fields.
Sajid is a mentor as MentorColor. MentorColor matches job seekers with interviews from FAANG. For readers of my work, they will offer a 30% discount if you use the promo code CODING-INTERVIEWS-30. You can use that to get discounts to potentially life-changing mentorship sessions with Sajid or any of their other top mentors. His mentor profile can be found here.
Because MentorColor is very excited to work with us, they have also offered 5 free mock interview sessions for y’all. You can use these to gain mock interviews with Senior Engineers at top tech companies. To get access to this, just reply to this email or reach out to me using the social media links below.
