The effects of splitting a project into multiple teams[Systems Design Sundays]

I want you to watch the following video. Some of you are going to think I’m insane. Yes, it is long. Trust me, this video has a lot of gems sprinkled in there. Worth every minute. Conway’s Law is a very important idea to know. To those of you very busy, the last 20 or so minutes are the most crucial, but you will miss out on a lot of context and knowledge.

As you progress in your career, the scope of your projects will increase a lot. This will mean that instead of working with a team, you will rely on a lot of teams to build and design different components. This video goes over some of the risks of the current ways in which we approach Software Architecture Design in today’s world. This is a must-watch for y’all. Take the lessons explored in this video, and try to see if you can work them into your skills.

Any organization that designs a system (defined broadly) will produce a design whose structure is a copy of the organization's communication structure.
